Simple, tasty & fresh... like a Highland breeze wafting up your kilt (and before you ask, those are their words, not ours!)
Deeney’s started as a street food stall back in the summer of 2012 and they’ve been bringing a taste of Scotland to Londoners ever since. For Carol (Deeney), the hospo business is in her blood - growing up working in her parents Scottish Café, she has spent her life cooking food for the people around her. When she’d finally had enough of the 9-5 lifestyle, she decided to chuck it all in and go back to doing what she loves.
After a few years of building up a reputation at some of London’s most celebrated food markets (including a regular stint at Broadway Market which they still have), Carol and her partner Paddy opened their first permanent home in Leyton. The cosy 20-seater café was a welcome addition to the neighbourhood where good coffee was still pretty hard to find.
Keeping in the spirit of entrepreneurship Carol, Paddy and the team rolled up their sleeves to whip the café into shape just 6 weeks after getting the keys. After spending long nights painting and sanding, their new home was finally transformed from a French Tearoom to the Leyton institution it is now.
Their famous ‘Macbeth’ haggis toastie has a cult following of its own (we’re talkin’ oozing cheddar cheese, caramelised onions, mustard and of course a thick slab of Haggis) and vegetarians fear not, the Lady Macbeth is just as indulgent.
Phrases such as ‘life changer’ and ‘London’s best cheese toastie’ are often thrown around when Deeney’s is mentioned but don’t just take our word for it, pay them and grab a Macbeth of your own.
