If you are in search of a place where health and flavour coexist harmoniously, look no further than Soul Boul in Hamilton East’s Made. This charming cafe is a hub where community, quality ingredients, and genuine connections come together seamlessly.
Soul Boul's journey began in 2017 with Stacey and Alex, two friends who decided to take a different path after completing their university studies. Instead of pursuing the typical post-grad jobs, they combined their hospitality experience and entrepreneurial spirit to open New Zealand’s first smoothie bowl food truck. Their innovative idea quickly gained popularity, leading them to open their first physical cafe location in Mount Maunganui in 2021. Following their success, the duo opened a second location in Hamilton in October 2023.
The Made location of Soul Boul was meticulously designed by local company Design Well and built by Karma Construction, friends of Stacey and Alex. The space seamlessly integrates into the bustling Made Market, an urban precinct that brings together retailers, food outlets, artisans, and creators. Despite a few nerves during the trip over the Kaimais for the installation, the result was perfect. The corner they occupy radiates sunshine and happiness, featuring signature Soul Boul green tiles, large windows that welcome natural light, and the warm, friendly faces of the staff.
Soul Boul has made a name for itself with its delicious smoothie bowls and acai bowls, which have become famous in Mount Maunganui and are now a hit in Hamilton East. Whether you prefer the rich, peanut buttery goodness or fresh, fruity flavours, there's a bowl with your name on it. If you're in the mood for something savoury, their Avo on Sourdough is a must-try. Made with locally brewed sourdough, pickled onions, cherry tomatoes, feta, lemon, and chilli, it's a dish that can only be described as "om nom nom."
At Soul Boul, coffee lovers are in for a treat. The team proudly serves our Allpress Espresso Blend on a beautiful Feijoa Green La Marzocco machine. Whether you're a fan of the classic oat flat white or looking to try something different like their alternative lattes, you won't be disappointed.
In the hustle and bustle of Made, Soul Boul stands out as a virtuous oasis. It’s a place where wholesome, nutritious, and delicious food awaits. It's not just about grabbing a bite to eat; it's about slowing down, connecting with your lunch date, and embracing the positive vibes that surround you.
