The Bach is named after the small, often modest holiday home– pronounced ‘batch’– where New Zealanders go to unwind.

Nikki and her partner, Zuzie, aim to bring a little taste of Kiwi hospitality and fun to east London and, even without the sandy shores, people are flocking to their two shops for those tranquil vibes.

The Bach isn’t their first venture into the world of corn fritters and flat whites. They are seasoned pros, having previously set up and run a buzzing café in Shoreditch called Long White Cloud after English translation of the Maori name for New Zealand, Aotearoa. They like to keep it close to their roots.

They believe that ‘happy food tastes good’ and are strong advocates of sourcing organic, sustainable and seasonal products. That mantra translates into delicious food, made from scratch that caters for gluten, wheat and dairy free diets as well. Happy food, indeed.

Head downstairs and you’ll find a shared workspace where you can sip on a Redchurch Blend flattie in between meetings. Artist collaborations and exhibitions are also welcomed; their walls are covered with local talent.
